Hetty’s kitchen talk.

This week I’m baking apple cake, yes that’s right apple cake not pie. I found this old recipe laying around the other day. It turned out to be my grandmothers own recipe for apple cake. I remember I always loved my grandmothers apple cake when I was growing up, and I haven’t baked this cake in over a year, so i’m really excited about that. Most likely as I said yesterday I will be baking it and posting the recipe on Sunday. a little re-visit to ‘Hetty’s baking Sunday’. It’s going to be fun, I’m really looking forward to it. But we got a few more posts to kill before then. Today I wanted to talk about pumpkins and pumpkin spice.

Truth be told pumpkin spice an pumpkin past is really hard to gt a hold of around here, and it’s expensive. So after a lot of back and forth when it comes to buying it online form a U.S. based store that ships to Norway I decided the best thing would be to buy a pumpkin and make a pumpkin paste myself, but that doesn’t give me the pumpkin spice I so badly want though. But at least it gives me something. I love pumpkin spiced latte, and I’m planning on making a lot of pumpkin related dishes this fall, and I’m really excited about that.  Coming up this fall is: pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin soup and who knows what else with pumpkin I’ll make, but it sure will be fun, even though I haven’t cooked anything with pumpkin before and I know right it’s super strange but it’s the truth. But this year I’m going to use pumpkin a lot so that could be fun, or end up as a disaster. But either way I’m not giving up because I know that even if it ends in a disaster it only means I have to practice more to get it right. So as I’ve said before; Never give up in the kitchen, because with practice you can do it all. Hey! I’m talking to you, don’t give up. You could be the new Gordon Ramsey if you work hard enough and never give up so keep up the good work and ever stop trying and you will succeed.

i’m going to try and make a longer post tomorrow, I promise that I’ll try my best.

I hope you’re having a great day and I hope to see you back here tomorrow for a new post. I’m making chicken fillet with a southern spice blend, mushrooms, broccoli, rice, and a creamy chicken sauce. Stop by tomorrow to get the recipe.

Adding a photo of today’s dinner to go with the post.

Until next time..
