Hey all fellow home cooks around the globe!
Today let’s talk spices. What’s kind of spices does Hetty have in her cabinets? Well, that exactly what I’m going to talk about today. We all have a shelf, or a cabinet where we store our spices. Different dishes often crave different spices that’s my shelf in the kitchen cabinet are as full as it can be, at least atm. When you’re trying to create new dishes on a regular basis it’s good to have a good variety of spices. You never know what can give the dish the little extra top nudge taste it needs to be complete. I’m not saying that you need to run to the store and fill up your spice variety. The only reason I have more than I usually do is because as I said, when I’m trying to create new dishes I need to have the ability to try different spice combos to come up with the right one. It’s as simple as that. Some of the spice I have I rarely use, but every once in a while I do.
I love to use Hetty’s herb mix when I’m cooking, but winter is coming and my herbs are as good as dead. I’ve tried to keep them inside during the winter before but just say it didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped. That’s why I’m mostly using dried herbs, and different dried spice blends during the winter.
So what do I have in my spice shelf in the kitchen cabinet? This is what I had lurking around:
Salt
Pepper
Chili explosion ( chili flakes. )
All-around spice blend
BBQ-spice blend
Oregano
Basil
Rosemary
Thyme
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
Tuscan spice blend
Poultry seasoning – Southern blend
Tandoori Marsala
Cayenne pepper
Turmeric
Papika
Cumin
Dark meat broth powder
This was what I could find in my spice shelf today. it’s kind of fun taking it all out and see what’s hiding and to see what had an expiration date four years ago.. Looks like I have to check my spices for expiration date more often. Luckily for me I haven’t used the spices that had expired for years. This was actually kinda cool. Maybe I’m going to go through more kitchen cabinets this week. Not sure if I’ll have time, but if I do I will definitively do that. Don’t worry, even if I don’t have the time top play the “What’s in Hetty’s kitchen cabinets?” game I will find something else to blog about. Today we had Hamburgers for dinner. I’m going to attach a photo of today’s dinner to this s post.
Dish of the day: Hamburgers
This was it from my side of the kitchen today. I hope y’all have an amazing day and to see you back here tomorrow for a brand new post.
Until next time..
