Food talk Thursday with Hetty

Hey everyone!

The plan was to write a post yesterday about the beef skewers I made yesterday. But it so happens that it didn’t turn out so good. You might think ‘ What could possibly go wrong making beef skewers.’ well, let me tell you. First off I used too much olive oil, the second thing was that I managed to use too much onion and bell pepper so it didn’t taste right. Then I put it in the oven instead of on the BBQ. If I’d used less onion, less olive oil and in fact put it on the BBQ it might have turned out better than it did. But spring and summer are coming up soon so I’ll get plenty of chances to re-do the whole beef skewers things, and hopefully it will turn out better then than it did yesterday. On the bright side with some potato salad and some tzatziki, it was eatable, and not that bad, but it’s not a recipe worth shearing. I’m so sorry about that. This is a great example that sometimes it might seem like I get everything right at first try,  but more often than not I don’t.

Today we had Hetty’s ground beef stew for dinner and it was perfect. I’m not super hungry these days, but I do enjoy cooking even though I’m not that hungry. I’ve been working on my book all day and I cross my fingers it will be done soon. Tomorrow I’m getting up bright and early to write.

I’m a red-wine person I love a good bottle of red, I also love drinks, I’m starting to like whiskey as well. I do not drink often, but having a glass of wine with good food and good company is something I enjoy. We don’t have nearly as many dinner parties as we once did back in time, but I still love it when we do have dinner guests.  We get some family over for Easter, so my aunt will arrive on Thursday, March 29th and most likely will spend the whole weekend here at our house and go back home on Monday. Not sure what we will be eating during the Easter weekend but I’m sure I will figure out something before then. Something good, something inside of my budget not sure what I’ll end up making but I sure will let you all know in time.

Next week we’ll be having a large family breakfast, possibly on Wednesday. I’m really looking forward to that, and I will be blogging about it so you will get the intel on how we have our large family breakfast and ho you can do the same.

I’m also planning on having a mother-daughter wine night next Saturday. I’m looking forward to that.

I hope all of you have an amazing Thursday so far and I hope to see you back here tomorrow for a new post.
