Update from Hetty’s Kitchen, herbs and more!

Hey everyone, this is Hetty from Hetty’s home kitchen, I’m back and I’m here to stay. Let’s talk about food, create new dishes, creat old dishes, come together and enjoy a good meal as friends and family, let’s create some new and amazing memories.

Summer has arrived, and  I’ve planted out my herbs on our backyard deck. It’s that time of the year again where all you want to do is to cook outside, throw something good on the BBQ, make some great drinks and have a great time with family and friends. I love summer. When one season changes into another I love the idea of creating something new, tasting something different, and learn something new. When Spring turns into Summer I want to try to make something great to throw on the BBQ or maybe try a new salad as a great side dish, try a new marinade or simply enjoy a good drink outside in the sun. When summer turns into fall I normally want to try making a stew, or some kind of comfort food, same goes for the winter I guess. Then when Spring usually comes around I’m starting to cook something a little more refreshing and summer inspired I guess.

Well, now it’s summer. Today I’m cleaning the house, fixing the pool, doing laundry, and making dinner and I might even mow the lawn if I get the time.

I’m going to wrap up this post with talking about fresh herbs. I love using fresh herbs in my cooking, and summertime is the perfect time to grow herbs out in your backyard, or on your back deck. ( whatever you prefer.) I prefer having my herbs out on our deck in a large flower-pot. The reason I prefer that is because every single time I have had a  “herb-garden-zone” in my backyard it always got conquered by spiders and I’m terrified of spiders which have resulted in me never going near the herbs ever again. So a few years ago I decided that use a large oval flowerpot that my mom has had ever since she was a kid and I decided to grow my herbs there. That way I could have my herbs out on our deck in the backyard without it being conquered by spiders. During the summer and winter for that matter, I love using fresh herbs. Salads, pasta dishes and a variety of meat dish, marinades, vinaigrettes you name it. You can easily use fresh herbs for anything you’re cooking.

On Sunday or Monday depending on how my new project is coming along I will be posting an update on Next weeks meal plan. There will be a Greek week or an Italian week and I’m really excited. I haven’t figured out the details out yet, but hopefully, I will get the time to do so on Sunday or Monday morning.

Greek or Italian, either way it’s going to be great week food-related.
