Food-Talk Saturday with Hetty; Greek food culture

Hey everyone!

Saturday food-talk with Hetty. After going a little back and forth with several European cuisines I decided to go with *Drum roll* Greek food culture. I’ve been to Greece countless times, and I really love the food culture. The whole setting, the whole atmosphere is amazing. You could easily make it in your own kitchen as well and create sort of a Greek dinner party with family or friends. Set the table with a blue and white checkered table cloth, light some candles, put on some Greek music playing in the background while you’re enjoying a glass of wine in the kitchen while cooking your favorite Greek dishes of all time. You could even set the table in your backyard on a hot summer day in the shade. You don’t have to be in Greece to experience the Greek food culture, but if you haven’t been to Greece I highly recommend that you go visit sometime, it’s worth it I can promise you that.

The humidity and the heat are high, but the beautiful oceans and the hotel pool will keep you going through. There is also a lot of cultures to explore as well. That’s why I love Greece so much, it has a rich culture and history, the food is amazing with a capital A, the ocean is beautiful and the hotels are great. There is not one single negative thing I have to say about Greece. Well, there is one thing though that I really don’t like and that is cockroaches. Sometimes you can experience a lot of them, sometimes you’re lucky and you only see them once in a while. It depends I guess. That’s the only “negative” thing I have to say about Greece, everything else is positive.

Greek food is amazing, the tzatziki, the fresh lemons, the most exquisite olive oil and they honey is over the moon quality. I have a lot of favorites when it comes to Greek dishes but I do love a good a Greek salad, tzatziki maybe some lamb chops with fries and freshly squeezed lemon juice on top. That’s an amazing meal if you ask me, I also love a good mousaka. Greek oven roasted potatoes are heavenly good and they’re pretty easy to make at home as well. Perfect for almost any type of meat and the perfect dish to bring to a BBQ party or to serve at a dinner party with friends and family.

Another thing that I really, really love is something called Saganaki, it’s basically fried cheese so if you love cheese this is perfect. I’ve never, ever made it at home before, but the last time I was in Greece I ordered it as a starter almost everyday.

If you are a fan of seafood then you’re going to love Greece even more. The Greeks know how to prepare a great meal form the ocean. The ocean is their backyard, and they know where to fish and when to fish. Calamari which is fried octopus is supposed to be exquisite. My mom always ordered Calamari when we went to Greece, it goes great with a glass of white wine.

The Greeks know their food and the way around the kitchen. There is no doubt about that. If you go to Greece order it all and taste a little of everything, or make a party of it at home cooking a variety of Greek dishes and let your guests take a little of everything, I’m sure they’re going to love it and I’m sure you will too.

This was it for today, I hope y’all are having an amazing Saturday and I hope to see y’all back here tomorrow for a new post.
